...uh, my thoughts exactly. Whats the point of selmo's branch if it can't make large amount of money in the fastest ways possible? As far as I can tell, they're the financial backbone of our family.

Ur right ^_^ but in the beginning nobody is going to have much money, so in the beggining there won't be stuff to steal and we will need more than Yakuza to make some $. We will ned contributions from people.

Hee hee, we'll steal from npcs if we can. I'll contribute money to my branch of course, I guess to do that I might actually be forced to take a legitimate job for awhile O.o If we set up business partners, I'm sure we can get contributions from them.

I guess in the beginning my branch can act as bandits and raid villages. That should fetch a nice chunk of change.

Hee hee. Maybe we can afford... a raft. O.o *Imagines awesome coastal raids*

The little finshing villiage is peaceful today, everyone is home again and the men are getting roudy in the pub. Suddenly a great whooping has started up. Pirates - raiding the villiage! Thats the third time this week, don't they have anything better to do? They finish their raid, and run back to their... raft! Piling on, it looks like the whole crew won't fit. One of them pushes off, and the dread pirates float off to sea, never to be seen again.

Yeah... we'll probably just aid Selmo's branch in the beginning. Save the pirating stuff for when we're a little richer.

You guys know we won't be raiding all that much in the begginning, and then only hostile lands. Trade is important to any Family, no matter what.... man i wish some traders would join....

Enough about this talk of funding! Its time to return this thread back to its original purpose - the Naval Branch. I just wanted to say that I've begun developing the rules and policies that my branch should follow.

First off - raiding and pirating. We're on a mission of mercy, so fight only when the victoms fight back. If they cower and hide below decks, or run for the hills, all the better. We're sorta like parasites - if the host dies, so do we. In this case, this means we shouldn't kill off the local merchants or traders everytime we pillage something. These people are needed to produce the things we steal from them, afterall. The only exception to this is bodyguards - those guys are pretty much paid to die. If we destroy too many ships at sea, then people will be forced to do land trade, because sea transport will become too risky and too costly. If this does happen, we'll be forced to take on the roll of sea transport. This is fine business if we can gain a monopoly on it, otherwise its just not worth it to practice legal business.

Honesty - honesty amongst fellow pirates its absolutely vital, especially when counting up the riches we plunder from ships/villiages. No one likes the guy who holds back. If someone does this, they will be severely penalized, probably losing all credibility and knocked back down to the starting ranks, regardless of their current ranks. Spies are even worse. If a spy or traitor is found in the midst of our crew, the penalty for such shady doings is death. The only other way this honesty will apply is in business relations. If we offer to ferry some one for a reasonable fee (reasonable by our standards anyway) then we will do it, without killing them or stealing their belongings. If we don't, then no one will be willing to use us for transport business purposes.

In short, we are the gentlemen of the seas. Be polite to us, and we'll plunder your goods with a smile and a thanks. Try to cross us, and we'll tear out your throat and leave your corpse for the sharks. Have a nice day, everybody!

That would be very profitable actually. Our "pirate" ships should be strong enough to fight off the other raiders that will undoubtedly fill the high seas. People would pay a pretty penny to be able to cross hostile territory without being killed by pirates. Of course, we can always pirate the pirates
