Default [Q]What will mining be like?

I know that with blacksmithing there is mining, but what will it be like?
and how will you make mining interesting?
How will people know where to mine?are there designated spots?
overall how will the ores come out of the rocks?(one at a time or in clusters like viens)

Sources of iron are very rare in japan, but there were some mines in Hokkaidō and northwest Honshū. but most of japanese iron came from iron pyrite seams in Honshū, Shikoku and Karafuto.

I read an article on how samurai swords were forged. The process of folding iron that came from china actually is done due to the poor carbon qualities of iron in japan. It just seemed interesting because so many websites talk about how great swords with folded steel are. If the iron was high-carbon in the first place then they would not need to fold it as much. Nevertheless, I hope it is much more involved than just standing in one spot and pressing a command. Mining should not be fun but it should be rewarding. Remember zoolander? That mining did not look fun.

don't quote me on this (because i don't run gameplay issues) but i belive that most if not some of the err how should of i say this, repetitive aspects of the game will be handled in sort of a mini-game way. Thus giving you something different everytime,(hell i just thought of 3 mini-mining games off the top of my head) this is just a thought floating around i think. you'll have to wait for sykoi for anything offical

I'm almost positive that Sykoi did say something about a minigame for most resource gathering. Either he said it or it was an idea by someone else on the forum and someone on dev team agreed. Ill try to dig up more info on it. But I believe one example was swordsmithing and controlling the hammer to make the blade etc. So bad hits could ruin the entire sword.

Ok, found it. it was said by raku so if sykoi could say something on it...

That would be very, very nice indeed. Almost like a mini flash ingame that effects your outcome - i like it. Would also add to the dimension and fun of things, hitting then as they heat up etc.

This is more of DeXtrose's thing... I'll let him answer it once we find it *Goes back to searching for him*.

But really, he's the one who had an entire mini-game series setup for most resource gathering.
