Default [Q] Operating System Requirements

Are there any plans in the works for a Linux-compatible version of Tatsumaki? If not, what would it take to convince the developers to START making plans for one?

It'd take a few programmers who know their way around *nix, *nix IDEs, and *nix APIs - before we started one.

Right off the top of my head, the only thing we're using in the engine that requires Windows is DirectX - and we just use it for input; however, DirectInput is pretty much the ONLY decent input API out there, that is both light and powerful.

We'd also need to see at least 5% of the fanbase using *nix (Which I don't see happening; Linux is a great Operating System, but it just isn't aimed towards gamers right now)

Hmm. That's too bad.

The game looks good, but without Linux support I'm unlikely to play it, the way things are going. Even work isn't requiring me to use Windows any longer.

Aye, this game looks quite nice, but the only time on a windows system is at work.

Linux support (at some time anyway) would be a definite plus.

I'd also play if there was a Linux version. I love the games already on Linux (America's Army, Unreal Tournament, etc.) and this would just add to an already great list of games. (:

I'd even pre-order now if I could be assured there was going to be a Linux version in the next two years.

I'll have to talk with the programmers, but like I mentioned above - the only thing keeping us from doing this, is lack of support from the linux community and no input API for *nix.

If the win32 only parts of the engine have counter-parts that are similar, then we'll work on a linux version as soon as we have time.

Define "lack of support from the linux community", please.

You seem strangely pleased about that.
