Default Hickory Wood.

I am wondering if there will be hickory trees in this, as there are six species of hickory tree in mainland Asia if you can transport trees from the mainland and start your own plantation. If we manage to start a hickory plantation we would have a very good supply of wood for our weapons, and as hickory is a very strong and flexible wood I vote for it to be our wood of choice for our army's weapons.
Yari are not entirely made of bamboo, only the outer part, and bokken need to be made of strong light materials to be effective training tools. Yari, naginata and bows need strong light and flexible wood, and the furniture on a sword must be quality wood, leather and or cloth. If anyone is a botanist I could use their input and thoughts, In fact any thoughts would be very welcome.

Well I am not a botanist but I do second the motion. Although I don't know if there will be extreme diversity among wood, Hickory wood does sound good. Heh,not only for smiths but cooks But if there is any, if we have convoys of it, who will guard them?

We're a warrior clan (by the way thank you for responding I was waiting) we would have the men to protect the shipments. Of course we could also hire independent contractors to get the wood for us, and we only pay when we get it. So even if our convoys are robbed then the bandits that did the robbing would probably just sell it to us anyway.

This is a picture of Carya (hickory) cathayensis, Cathay being an old name for China and ensis just being the end of the word. Carya cathayensis is the easternmost growing hickory plant and the most likely to be found in a country east of China. (click on the picture)

Well there is this tree. Fraxinus japonica or the Japanese ash tree. Ash is also valued for its durable properties and was often used to make spears.

Also there's the obvious cherry, then there's Cryptomeria japonica which would probably be used more for spears and arrows than striking weapons.

Ash on the left Sugi on the right.
