Eh well... Then you might want to wait until they get that "big update" Sykoi's talking about. Maybe you get to see something more.

Anyway, the post was rather aimed at Ebisu than you.

Ahah! Yes Lavenso, I'm in the process of doing the same thing as you, looking into it. If I'm going to pre-order it I want the lifetime plan, so I'd like to see the progress in front of my eyes if possible. I well understand these things take time, but as you pointed out, there are a lot of MMO's that get hyped and advertised and then cancelled, not always before people have invested. If I were a developer and my game was crawling along due various factors, critical morale issues could arise from time to time. Nonetheless, if released in its intended form, Tatsumaki will be WELL worth the money as I'm sure you agree! So now its just for us to decide whether or not to put our money where our hopes lie.

And Kurisu, I haven't been through every forum topic yet, so I must have missed the big update memo so far. Where can I read about it?

The sad thing is as an indie project you can't really set release dates.
We constantly have people coming and going etc. Some weeks we get a lot of things done. Other weeks we're really slow (for me i've been really slow for the last 3 weeks because of school & personal finances)

Since 2007 i've always said a 2009 release. This is a slightly optimistic outlook(This is my opinion, read my sig for clarification.), however it could change. It all depends on how many new recruits/retanment of old recruits we get after our PR bursts (betas). Once we have great eye candy and things to do in beta(thus we can really push PR wise), It'll be all downhill.

Devs don't like to devote their time to a game project without seeing that it'll work. That is especially true with MMO's (just read recruitment section of the gamedev forums)

In the end I guess it's easy to say.

freetime = production
production = awareness
awareness = devs
devs = production

therefor
devs with freetime = more production & awareness = more devs

Hehe, a cycle indeed! So what does it mean to be an "indie" project? Is it all voluntary? Is anyone getting paid? Understanding more about the operation would help me know why and how tihngs get done, and perhaps assure me that they will, or even that I can help make sure they do!

for a definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indepen...me_development

As for our operation, we are completely volunteer base. No one makes a cent (intact a few of us actually have put in money) and all donations/pre-order money goes to hosting our svn server and our ad-pool.

I don't know if there is any forum topic or post by anyone about it, but you may just ask any developer. They surely can't tell you really much about it other than it will be a ... big update

Thanks Kurisu. I'm going to pre-order the game at the lowest deal first. I've read somewhere that you become privy to more detailed progress reports from the devs once you pre-order. If after bug hunting and reading these advanced info packets for a while I feel good about going for the lifetime pre-order, I surely will! It will be a great game.

Maybe you guys could use some more investors. You guys looking for a publisher or your going to publish it yourself?

A publisher was the least thing they want.

About investors, they already have a deal with jolt(see all the advertisement)

publishers eat up revenue, and take away creative freedom. Since this type of game hasn't really been tired yet, in all honestly anyone we sell publishing rights too will pretty much force us to "WoW" this game. Because the wow system is a proven mmo style.

As for investors, you'd have to ask sykoi about them. Depends on really what their demands are.
